August 2, 2017
Change is difficult for all of us to go through whether it’s a new addition to the family, the loss of a loved one, family relocation, or changes in our jobs. With today’s rapidly changing world of mergers and hostile takeovers employees feel left out and helpless, this can become quite stressful. Here are four tips to help you manage the change process
Change can bring a lot of distractions, making it more important than ever to stay focused on your job, the tasks at hand, and changes within your department. Don’t let your emotions cloud your business decisions.
Relax, think, stay ahead of change, ask questions, get involved, and be a part of the change. There’s nothing productive or effective about worrying over something you can’t control. As the changes come, learn to adapt. This is one of the marks of a truly great leader.
With any change, there’s liable to be negative talk around the office. Don’t participate. Negativity is poison and you will always lose in the end. It’s very important you stay positive, find the good, and be proactive about your situation.
Get Your Team Involved
It’s true that many companies don’t care about their workers opinions or thoughts regarding change. Don’t’ be one of those companies. Get your team involved in the change process by communicating the plan. At the end of the day, most of our fears are based in the unknown. If everyone is up to speed and aware of the situation, it makes it that much easier to stay positive, adapt, and continue down the path of success.
